Apple will be selling never locked US spec iPhone 4 via their stores and website. Prices are $649 for the 16GB and $729 for the 32GB. This will kill the never locked iPhone grey market because authorized resellers typically make between 2-5% per sale on hardware. Thus wholesale prices to resellers will be around:
iPhone 4 16GB, $616.55
iPhone 4 32GB, $692.55
This will squeeze out anyone between the reseller and the end user unless demand stays high in areas that do not currently have easy access to iPhones. Bye, bye to all of us who made insane profits over he last few years trading never locked iPhones from Asia and Europe.

Dang this sucks.... Now what???
ReplyDeleteIf you sell outside the US you will be fine. If you are on eBay then you are out of luck. Regardless it has always been the smarter approach to avoid iPhones or at most have them as a supplement to your sales.
